Crash records · Pismo Beach · 2025
The CHP and Pismo Beach police recorded 199 crashes inside the city in 2025. Seventy-three people were hurt. Thirteen of those crashes involved someone on a bike or on foot. None involved an electric bike.
Every crash reported in the city last year, drawn end to end. The coloured slivers at the right are the twelve involving a bicycle and the one involving someone walking. Everything to their left is motor vehicles hitting each other, hitting parked cars, or running off the road, much of it on US-101.
Officers marked 189 people at fault across the year. 181 of them, 96%, were driving a car. Eight were riding a bike and no pedestrian was faulted at all.
Six people died in Pismo Beach between 2021 and 2024, more than Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach put together. Three were on foot, including one struck in a crosswalk at Price and Stimson with the driver at fault. The other three were a drink-driver, a motorcyclist, and an 18-year-old driver, all on US-101. Nobody died in 2025.

Eleven people were hurt in these thirteen crashes and three were hurt seriously, all of them cyclists. Five of the thirteen were on Dolliver Street, which carries Highway 1 through town, and three more on Shell Beach Road. Six of the twelve bicycle crashes involved no moving car at all, which points at road surface, parked cars, and lane width as much as at driver behaviour.
The e-bike question, answeredNot one electric bike appears in a Pismo Beach crash report in 2025. This is not a gap in the paperwork. The reporting system has a separate code for electric bicycles and San Luis Obispo County recorded eighteen of them last year, in unincorporated areas, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cal Poly, and Paso Robles. Every bicycle here was logged as an ordinary bicycle. Whatever is worth worrying about on these streets, the crash record does not point at e-bikes.
