Arroyo Grande police and the CHP recorded 276 crashes inside the city in 2025. Ninety-nine people were hurt. Ten of those crashes involved someone on a bike or on foot. None involved an electric bike.
Every crash reported in the city last year, drawn end to end. The two coloured slivers at the right are the six involving a bicycle and the four involving someone walking. Everything to their left is motor vehicles hitting each other, hitting parked cars, hitting fixed objects, or running off the road.
Officers marked 243 people at fault across the year. 236 of them, 97%, were driving a car. Four were riding a bike and two were walking.
The proportion barely moves. Across five years and 1,043 crashes, 48 involved a bicyclist or a pedestrian. Two people died in the city over that period: a bicyclist who hit a fixed object riding alone in 2023, and a motorcyclist in a solo overturn in 2025. The jump to 276 crashes in 2025 is almost certainly the department filing more reports rather than more crashes happening, since the county as a whole rose 1.6%.

Nine people were hurt in these ten crashes and every injury was minor or a complaint of pain. Two of the ten involved no car at all: two 15-year-olds who hit each other, and a rider who went into an object alone at one in the morning. Of the eight that did involve a car, the driver was at fault in four, and all four were failure-to-yield turns.
The e-bike question, answeredNot one electric bike appears in an Arroyo Grande crash report in 2025. This is not a gap in the paperwork. The reporting system has a separate code for electric bicycles and San Luis Obispo County recorded eighteen of them last year, in unincorporated areas, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cal Poly, and Paso Robles. Every bicycle in Arroyo Grande was logged as an ordinary bicycle. Whatever is worth worrying about on these streets, the crash record does not point at e-bikes.
